Dickson Realty Presents The Holland Project

The Holland Project is an all-ages arts and music initiative by young people, for young people, in the Truckee Meadows. Holland is non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that produces more than 150 all-ages events annually in the Reno area. Governed by its members, volunteer boards and our committees, Holland seeks to propel Reno's all-ages movement, and wholeheartedly support and champion opportunities for young people in our community. Holland focuses on executing live music events monthly, curating gallery exhibits, hosting unique and affordable workshops, and presenting special events and city-wide collaborations. Holland Project hopes to further identify Reno as a cultural center with a vibrant urban scene where art and music thrive. Holland fundamentally believes that music and art are vital forces, and that young people have the ability and right to shape and share their culture. All-ages events and opportunities are an important part of any healthy and happening community, and we're proud to work to present all-ages offerings. Modeled after successful projects nationwide, including Holland's sister organization The Vera Project in Seattle, Holland was started by a group of dedicated teens, musicians, artists, teachers, activists, business owners and community leaders in 2006. With immense community support, Holland officially opened its doors in the spring of 2007 and has put on over 1000 events including music shows in nearly every genre, gallery exhibits, dance performances, workshops, special events, fashion shows, film nights and more. The Holland Project is located at 140 Vesta Street, between Wells Ave and S. Virginia/Holcomb in Reno's Midtown district. Dickson Realty presents Late Harvest Exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art

Late Harvest juxtaposes contemporary art made with taxidermy with historically significant wildlife paintings, resulting in intriguing parallels and startling aesthetic contrasts. The exhibition seeks to simultaneously confirm—through historically-significant wildlife paintings—and subvert—through contemporary art and photography—viewers' preconceptions of the place of animals in culture. An illustrated catalogue will accompany the exhibition. Late Harvest is organized by the Nevada Museum of Art in consultation with the National Museum of Wildlife Art. The exhibition is curated by JoAnne Northrup, Director of Contemporary Art Initiatives, together with consulting curator Adam Duncan Harris, Ph.D., Petersen Curator of Art & Research, National Museum of Wildlife Art. Exhibit runs September 27, 2014 - January 18, 2015.

Home Fire Preparedness Campaign

We all know we live in a fire hazardous zone. Dickson Realty is proud to interview the American Red Cross regarding their upcoming Home Fire Preparedness Campaign.

"On average, over 20 people die in Nevada each year from fires. Home fires affect everyone…and the impact on the young and the old is especially significant. On behalf of all firefighters, we stand united in support of the Red Cross campaign to save lives and reduce injuries caused by home fires." Peter J. Mulvihill, P.E. Chief, Nevada State Fire Marshal

To make a change in these devastating numbers, the American Red Cross is launching the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign. This 5-year campaign is intended to reduce the number of deaths and injuries due to fire in the U.S. by 25 percent.
